About this episode

Before you pay someone tens of thousands of dollars to shape your child's mind, shouldn't you know what that person believes about God, truth, and morality? In this episode of The Outlaw Philosopher, Dr. Owen Anderson introduces a tool he built for parents and students: the Intellectual Nutrition Label. We read labels before we buy food, because ingredients have consequences. Intellectual ingredients have consequences too — and most families never check them. Owen and co-host Jorge Gil work through two frameworks. First, the six-step strategy by which Western universities went from being founded on Christian conviction to teaching that Christianity is the oppressor: the great divide between theology and the other disciplines, the dismissal of general revelation, the retreat into "neutrality," multiculturalism, and finally today's oppression studies. Owen's point is that most parents are still picturing step five — and their kids are living in step six. Second, the Romans 1 test: an objective way to identify a godless worldview without claiming to read anyone's mind. God is clearly revealed. That knowledge creates an obligation. Refusing it isn't neutrality, it's failure. Something always takes God's place. And the end of that road is a darkened mind — not an empty mind, but one crowded with information and deprived of wisdom. Then the practical part: the five questions to ask any professor before enrolling. What is ultimately real? How do we know truth? What makes something good or evil? What is a human being? What is the highest good? Plus the one question Owen says reveals the most — is there any belief in this class that can never be questioned? Also in this episode: why a student's first year should be spent scouting rather than fighting, the difference between exposure to a false worldview and compelled affirmation of it, and the moment Owen's own child asked whether raising a hand in class would hurt their grade. For parents choosing a school, students already in the classroom, and donors who want to know where their money actually goes.
