# EP007: The Showdown Over Race—and the Art of Trolling

An ASU employee wrote an op-ed attacking Dr. Owen Anderson's lawsuit — and in one sentence denied the training assigns race blame, then in the very next sentence did exactly that. Owen's lawyers called it the best evidence they could have asked for.
 In this episode of The Outlaw Philosopher, Dr. Owen Anderson puts that op-ed under the microscope and works through it line by line — not to attack its author, whom he deliberately leaves unnamed and asks listeners not to look up, but to model how to analyze an argument when you're the one being attacked. Poisoning the well. Guilt by racial association. Arguing from a particular to a universal. It becomes a live logic lesson using a real specimen.
 The question underneath it all: history tells us what people did — but does skin color tell us what this person did? Owen and co-host Jorge Gil separate teaching the historical facts of slavery from assigning present moral guilt by racial category, and make the case that a university teaching the "whole truth" would include the bloody war fought to end it, the global scope of the slave trade, and the biblical ground on which slavery was always wrong in the first place.
 Then the show heads into the saloon. Owen's new Blaze article asks whether a Christian can troll without sinning. Trolling isn't the creature under the bridge — it's a fishing word. You put out bait. And a real troll isn't aimed at people; it's aimed at a leader, to expose hypocrisy and free the crowd following him. Jesus called the Pharisees whitewashed tombs. Elijah asked whether Baal was on vacation. Owen's warning: most people who think they're trolling are just being rude — and watching a master do it is like watching Michael Jordan and concluding you could dunk from the free-throw line.
 The episode closes with a new recurring segment — The Rattlesnake Round — rapid-fire scenarios on when to engage, when to simply ask a question, and when to just keep riding.
