A PLACE TO BEGIN

# Truth for all of life.

Short introductions to help you find your way into the Bible, the church, and the Reformed faith.

## What does “Reformed” mean?

Reformed Christians seek to believe and live according to the whole teaching of Scripture. Our name connects us with the Protestant Reformation and its renewed emphasis on the Bible’s authority and salvation by grace.

We cannot earn our acceptance with God. Jesus Christ saves sinners through His perfect obedience, sacrificial death, and resurrection. We receive Him through faith, and the Holy Spirit renews us to live in gratitude and obedience.

God’s covenant promises help us see the unity of the Bible: the Old and New Testaments unfold His saving purpose fulfilled in Christ.

02 / LIFE IN THE CHURCH

## What does “Presbyterian” mean?

The word comes from the biblical term for elder. Presbyterian churches are governed by elders who shepherd the congregation under Christ and His Word.

In Presbyterian church government, local congregations are connected through wider assemblies of elders. This provides shared care and accountability beyond one congregation.

Read [Acts 14:23](https://biblia.com/bible/esv/acts/14/23) and [1 Peter 5:1–4](https://biblia.com/bible/esv/1-peter/5/1-4).

03 / DISCIPLESHIP AT HOME

## Start small. Be consistent.

Family worship need not be complicated. Set aside a few minutes to turn your attention to God together.

- Read. Read a short passage from Scripture. Ask what it teaches about God and how we should respond.
- Pray. Thank God, confess sin, and pray for one another and your church.
- Sing. Learn a Psalm together, a little at a time.
- Learn. Take one catechism question and discuss what it means.[Explore family worship at home](https://ctkrp.org/family-worship/)

04 / THE BIBLE’S SONGBOOK

## Words for every season.

The Psalms teach us to praise God, confess sin, lament suffering, and trust His promises. They direct our hope toward the Lord and His anointed King.

Our church practices exclusive psalmody: we sing the biblical Psalms in public worship. You are welcome to learn with us, even if Psalm singing is new to you.

Read [Psalm 95:1–7](https://biblia.com/bible/esv/psalms/95/1-7).
